For parents & guardians
Parent privacy notice
This draft describes guest practice and parent-managed accounts. Account features and testing with real children still require privacy review. Current practice availability has not yet been verified.
Practice without an account
When guest practice is available, you can use the exercises without signing in. The application does not save guest progress or practice history. Speaking activities still send audio through the server to Azure Speech for processing, as described below.
Who manages a child’s account?
When account features are enabled, an adult parent or legal guardian manages the family account. Children should not register directly. Signing in or checking a box does not verify parental consent. Before a child profile or account-based practice is enabled, the service must complete a separate parental verification process and record consent to the current notice.
What we collect and why
With account features enabled, the service stores:
- A parent’s email address and account identifier for sign-in, account management, and privacy requests.
- A child’s nickname and internal identifier so a parent can distinguish profiles. Please do not enter full names, birth dates, school names, or diagnoses.
- Exercise selections, attempt times, completion outcomes, speech-detection results, and final-answer assessment scores to show practice progress.
- Consent and verification records, security records, and deletion-job records necessary to manage access and privacy requests. These records are subject to their own limited retention policies.
We do not use child practice data for advertising. Data is not sold. Do not enter extra personal information into a nickname or say private information during speaking turns.
Microphone and speech processing
The microphone opens during the speaking portion of an activity and closes before the app processes an answer or plays the next instruction. You can stop practice by changing activities, signing out, or leaving the page.
In both practice modes, short audio samples pass through the application server to Microsoft Azure Speech to detect speech and assess an answer. The application does not save recordings or recognized transcripts. Guest practice returns feedback without saving results or history. Account-based practice saves results and assessment scores to show progress. Browser microphone permission is separate from parental consent.
Service providers
Amazon Web Services provides hosting, parent authentication, database storage, and operational services. Microsoft Azure Speech processes audio for speech recognition and pronunciation assessment and produces spoken activity instructions. Provider terms and processing arrangements must be reviewed before child testing opens.
Parent choices and deletion
When account features are enabled, the parent account panel lets you review progress, download your family’s records, delete one child’s data, withdraw consent for all your children, or delete your parent account. Guest practice creates no saved progress to export or delete. Downloads may contain private family information; protect or delete downloaded copies yourself.
A confirmed deletion request blocks further practice for the affected profiles and creates a tracked deletion job. That job removes the applicable live profile and practice records. Withdrawal stops further child collection. Deleting one child does not delete another child’s profile.
Database backups can contain earlier copies until their configured expiry. They are restricted from ordinary use. A recovery from backup must reapply completed deletions before the service returns to use. Independently downloaded copies and records held by external providers require their own handling; a database deletion is not a promise to erase every external copy instantly.
How long information stays
Guest practice results are not saved. Retention settings for stored account records have not yet been verified.
The deletion and retention workers must be running and monitored. Backups, parent contact records, minimal consent evidence, and privacy-request audit records have separate documented limits. Ask the operator for those limits before consenting if they have not been provided.
Access and account security
Parents may access only the children assigned to their account. Keep your login private and sign out on shared devices. A future tutor or teacher feature would require separate, explicit access assignments; there is no public student directory.
Questions, review, or deletion help
Privacy contact details are temporarily unavailable. Please try again before sharing personal information.
Do not send recordings, identity documents, or a child’s full name by ordinary email. A privacy request may require a secure check that you control the parent account.
